Jerard is a Senior Associate Solicitor specialising in Clinical Negligence Law and Catastrophic Injury Litigation. Jerard is the head of the Clinical Negligence & Catastrophic Injury Departments at Curtis Solicitors Limited.. He joined in April 2013 to head up the Clinical Negligence Department, after more than 8 years at Fentons Solicitors LLP. He previously trained and practiced at Brabners Chaffe Street LLP. 

 

Jerard has represented clients who have suffered birth injury causing development of cerebral palsy; where a failed hoist system caused bilateral brachial plexus injuries rendering a paraplegic client effectively tetraplegic; where misdiagnosis of condition has led to premature death; and in cases of wrong site surgery and wrongful medical implant claims.

 

Jerard largely specialises in Birth, Brain and Spinal Injury Claims, though also advises in other areas of Complex and Catastrophic life changing injuries.

 

Jerard is regularly instructed on Fatal Claims and represents families at Inquests. He has advised in cases with value exceeding £10,000,000.

 

Jerard is currently instructed in a number of cerebral palsy, other birth injury and stillbirth claims.  He is also lead Solicitor in current cases involving Tetraplegia following a Road Traffic Accident and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome following an accident at work.

 

Jerard also advises on USA injury claims and arising from over 20 years of skiing, advises on winter sports claims. He has previously acted for a family following a fatality in Florida which concluded in a settlement of US $2,000,000.

 

Jerard is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).  He is an APIL Accredited Personal Injury Specialist (Senior Litigator) and an APIL Accredited Clinical Negligence Specialist.  Jerard is APIL’s Clinical Negligence Special Interest Group Coordinator.

 

He is also a PCC Governor for Baxenden St John's CE Primary School and a director of Fylde Hockey Club Limited.
