Kenneth Lees

Kenneth is a specialist clinical negligence solicitor who acts exclusively for claimants in all aspects of clinical negligence work. After 14 years with a leading regional law firm, he joined Curtis Law Solicitors in March 2021 and was promoted to Head of the Clinical Negligence Department in May 2022.

His day to day work includes advising clients on relevant principles of law, investigating clinical negligence claims from early stages by reviewing medical records, collating relevant documents and securing factual and expert evidence right through to pursuing the case in court, and negotiating settlements.

Kenneth enjoys a varied caseload covering the entire spectrum of clinical negligence claims. He specialises in claims involving Gentamicin toxicity, the delayed diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and avoidable strokes linked to the failure to properly anticoagulate patients suffering from atrial fibrillation.

Focusing on ensuring that his clients receive a first class service, Kenneth has a reputation for acting in the best interests of his clients and a proven track record of success. He values an honest and frank approach whilst maintaining genuine warmth when dealing with his clients.

Outside of work, Kenneth is Chair of Governors at Coppice and Roundthorn Primary Academies in Oldham. He finds this role very rewarding as it affords him the opportunity to interact with leaders and staff in each Academy, covering areas including HR, finance, quality of teaching and curriculum development. Having grown up in the area himself, Kenneth values helping to ensure that each child is given the best possible opportunity to realise their full potential.

His recent cases include the following:

Mrs A v George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (Delayed diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer)

Mr B v GP Practice (GP negligence causing avoidable orchidectomy)

Mr C v East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (Negligent medication administration causing anaphylactic shock)

Mrs D v South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (Avoidable still birth following shoulder dystocia)
