Things to consider when purchasing a new build property

Are you considering purchasing a newly built property?
If so, take a look at some of the pros and cons we have listed below:-
Pros
The opportunity to select your own fixtures and fittings – these can be tailor made to your own taste (for a price!)
Low repair and maintenance costs
Most new build properties are sold with the benefit of a 10 year guarantee
There are often ‘deals’ offered to purchasers such as the developer paying for legal fees or offering free items
Cons
Often, there are snags which the developer agrees to deal with following completion. It can take months for these snags to be dealt with efficiently
If you are one of the first buyers on an estate, be prepared to live in a building site until all properties have been built!
Moving dates can be tricky when the property is not build complete. In most circumstances, a completion date cannot be finalised until the property has been built.
Factors such as the weather can mean a delay in the building process which ultimately means a delay as to when you can move in
