Why you should be using an Accredited Lawyer?

27 March 2019

At Curtis Law we understand that clients want reassurance that the advice we give is the best it can be. Accreditation is one of the things that guarantees that the advice you are getting is consistent with the current best practice.

As a practice we have held the Lexcel and Investors in People Standards for many years, but we are only as good as our individual lawyers advice.

If you are instructing a firm that does not have accredited lawyers you may not be getting the best advice. Each of our teams has accredited lawyers in them to ensure that the advice you are receiving is correct. Accreditation means that that lawyer has been independently verified by his or her peers.

Our Accredited Specialists disseminate their specialist knowledge to their team members to ensure that they too are providing the same level of expert advice. Our teams that contain accredited lawyers are: -

Personal Injury

Andrew Bell (Head of RTA and Industrial Disease), one of our directors is a Member of the Law Society Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme and also holds Higher Rights of Audience (All Courts) as a Solicitor Advocate.  http://www.curtislaw.co.uk/department-heads/andrew-bell/

The Law Society explain that personal injury accreditation, ensures that clients, and/or their representatives, are easily able to identify legal practitioners with proven competency in personal injury law. It is evidence that the practitioner maintains relevant standards of competency and expertise in the field through re-accreditation and demonstrates conformity to a best practice quality mark that prospective clients can trust.

Clinical Negligence and Catastrophic Injury

Jerard Knott (Head of Clinical Negligence and Catastrophic Injury), one of our Senior Associates is an APIL Accredited Clinical Negligence Specialist and Senior Litigator. APIL accreditation provides a quality mark of competence and specialist expertise for solicitors and barristers dealing with personal injury claims. This quality mark helps the consumer to recognise expertise and specialisms within the profession. The accreditation scheme demonstrates that an APIL lawyer has achieved a specific standard. http://www.curtislaw.co.uk/department-heads/jerard-knott/

Lynne Ainsworth, Senior Solicitor holds Law Society Clinical Negligence Accreditation. The Law Society explain that Practitioners who are not scheme members will remain free to undertake clinical negligence work but will not be identified as specialists. Members will have shown that they have achieved the required level of competence and knowledge in this area of law as defined by the Society. We are proud that Lynne has been recognised with this best practice quality mark that prospective clients can trust. http://www.curtislaw.co.uk/department-heads/lynne-ainsworth/

Conveyancing

The Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) provides a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practices. Membership establishes a level of credibility for firms with stakeholders such as regulators, lenders and insurers as well as residential homebuyers and sellers. Our residential conveyancing team, headed by Juber Deriwala, Senior Solicitor, are members of this scheme and commit to the aim of continually improving standards across the residential conveyancing sector. http://www.curtislaw.co.uk/department-heads/juber-deriwala/

Family Law

Ismail Foolat, our Head of Family and Employment, is an accredited member of Resolution First for Family Law. Resolution members follow a Code of Practice that promotes a constructive approach to family issues and considers the needs of the whole family, in particular the best interests of children. Resolution is a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way. http://www.curtislaw.co.uk/department-heads/ismail-foolat/

We should never be shy in saying we are accredited professionals. These are the quality standards that make us stand out from many of our contemporaries. Whenever our staff are at the level they can seek accreditation we will support their application. It is important that reassurance is available to our clients that we are Accredited Lawyers.

If you need reassurance look for the quality marks. Let us be your solution providers.

I am proud of our individuals and what they offer our clients.
